Chris Janzen is Assistant Professor of Art (2D and 3D studio courses) and occasional Adjunct Professor of Music (Jazz Guitar) at Fresno Pacific University.
Chris earned a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art at Bethel College, North Newton, KS, and a Master of Fine Arts in Oil Painting at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD. His visual arts mentors include painter Jeffery Freeman, printmaker Lloyd Menard, and historian Ann Balakier. He studied guitar with Jerry Hahn, Scott Hesse, Craig Owens, and Tom Harder.
His “Menno-Pop-Surrealist” art and jazz guitar playing have been exhibited / heard throughout Kansas, Iowa, South Dakota, and California. Recent west coast exhibitions include: The Fresno Art Museum (2012), The Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco (2011), the Alphonse Berber Gallery, Berkeley (2009), and Electric Works Gallery, San Francisco (2009).
Chris is a member of the Fig Tree Gallery in Fresno, CA, where he currently resides with his wife and two daughters.
